The personal health insurance charge will be reflected on the first statement of the first semester. To waive the insurance, the online waiver form will need to be completed every academic year no later than the Friday of the first full week of classes. Due to Federal Regulations, expenses reflected in the Cost of Attendance from the Financial Aid Office may differ from actual charges on this page. Housing and meals are determined based on ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½'s four-year residency requirement. Also, the Financial Aid Office calculates the cost of food for the 2024-2025 academic year at $7,990 which covers 21 meals per week (versus 18 swipes for the standard meal plan). In addition to direct costs, students should also plan on indirect costs estimated at $950 for books, course materials, supplies and equipment; $800 for transportation; $1650 for miscellaneous personal expenses; and $70 on average for federal student loan fees.
Textbooks and supplies are not automatically included on your billing statement. You'll purchase these separately after enrolling in classes each semester, either through the campus bookstore or your preferred retailer. If using Eli's, you do have the option to charge books to your student account. If you have an overage of funds on your account (possibly from aid), the bookstore charges will be offset by this credit balance. If you do not have available funds on your account, the charges will show up in future billing statements. If you do not want your credit balance to cover any bookstore charges, please contact Payment Services immediately at paymentservices@depauw.edu. If you have a credit balance on your student account that you want to use for books and supplies from another retailer, you will receive a refund of this overage from Payment Services.
